John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. – The Message Bible translation
God’s better hope leads to a better life!
We already know some things about life, but we would be wise to know the things about life that God wants us to know.
Scripture confirms some things we already know about life.
Life is physical.
This physical body is subject to: suffering, illness, hard work, temptation, sin, and death.
Life Is brief.
Many of us are somewhat disappointed when we hear about how short life is
Ps 102:11 (NET) My days are coming to an end, and I am withered like grass.
Ja 4:14 (NET) You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes.
It would be wise for us to live with this truth in mind.
Life is precious (priceless, extremely valuable)
Mt 10:29-31 (NET) Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 Even all the hairs on your head are numbered.31 So do not be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
Life Is from Christ
Apostle John wrote, In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. (Jn 1:4 (NET)
Jesus Himself said, “I am the bread of life.” (John 6:35, 48)
He said, “I have come that they might have life.” (John 10:10)
He said, “I am the resurrection and the life…” (John 11:25)
“I am the way the truth and the life.” (John 14:6)
Apostle John stated the purpose for his gospel, “But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and by believing you may have life in His name.” (John 20:31)
Just as physical life is a gift from God, life eternal is also.
Apostle John said, ”The one who has the Son has this eternal life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have this eternal life. 1 Jn 5:12 (NET)
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. — 1 Peter 2:9
